Can't Let Go
"Like Jane Hill's two previous psychological thrillers, Can't Let Go is riveting and completely impossible to put down. It comes armed with a final twist that will make even the most canny readers gasp. I absolutely loved it." - Sophie Hannah "It's a fine read. A writer to watch." - Peter Guttridge, The Observer "Sustained tension.... It's sit up all night stuff." - Carla McKay, The Daily Mail "Hill's is a welcome new voice, confident and sassy, and, most importantly of all, she tells a great story." - Mark Billingham
How I WroTE CAN'T LET GOThe idea for Can't Let Go began with a sentence that got stuck in my head: "When I was eighteen I killed a man and got away with it." I knew I had to write a book that began with that sentence - but it took me a lot longer to work out who had been killed and why. Can't Let Go is set partly in the world of stand-up comedy, an environment I know well as I am also a comic - see my other website for more details. Part of the novel is set during the frenetic Edinburgh Fringe, which takes over the streets of the Scottish capital every summer. Edinburgh is a wonderful place to set a thriller, full of hidden alleyways and looming grey buildings. I also set part of the book in another of my favourite cities, San Francisco. Can't Let Go was great fun to write, and I hope it's the sort of book you will have trouble putting down. LINKS
